Featured: Cramped and Dated

As their kids got older, the Determans realized they were outgrowing their house of 10 years. They came to us for help with the decision to stay in their current home and undergo a renovation, or sell and completely start over in a new abode. Together we decided the best path forward was to add to their current home, including “popping the top” of their garage and adding a master suite above. The new level features a spacious bedroom, stunning ensuite bathroom, walk-in closet, and home office space. By pulling this private space up, we had more room to reconfigure the shared family areas on the main level. With entertainment in mind, we created a new cohesive great room. A kitchen featuring clear alder cabinets stained a rustic walnut tone is paired with playful fish scale tiles; all designed to open up to two living rooms and dining space that boasts a custom bench fit for large family gatherings. Other notable features include a stunning three-sided floor-to-ceiling slate fireplace between the sunroom and formal living space, a beautiful wood tiled display niche in the dining room, and a new mudroom off the garage. The result is a home previously bursting at the seams transformed into a spacious rustic mid-century haven, complete with walnut tones, brass + charcoal accents, and a whole lot of love.
