Although Jay and Abby Brown loved their St. Louis Park neighborhood because of nearby amenities and a strong community, their home had them feeling cramped. With two little ones, the young family wanted more space to breathe and more updated finishes. With the thought of potentially expanding the family in mind, they decided more square footage was a necessity despite mixed emotions about moving, so they called us for help! Considering their home was on the perfect lot for a “pop-the-top” second-story addition and their neighborhood comp’s warranted the added value, we decided we would help them stay and renovate. Using the existing footprint, we framed in another level including a full master suite, laundry room, kids bathroom, and 3 more bedrooms, leaving the whole main level to repurpose for a new kitchen, living room, home office, and powder room. By almost doubling their square footage, adding marketable features including living room built-ins, a show-stopping kitchen and wet bar, and so much more, we made this renovation a dream come true.
